'Horsin' Around Downtown' to Liven Up Stamford This Summer

Local artists' designs for the horses were selected via jury, according to a press release.

This year's exhibit has a social media element, as visitors will be able to “check in” at the location of each horse and visit its Foursquare page, via their mobile devices. What's more downtown merchants will be offering promotions at these locations via Foursquare.
Since the exhibit's launch in 2000 with "Cows on Parade" it has brought record-breaking tourism and spending dollars estimated in the hundreds of thousands to the downtown, the release states. In addition more than $400,000 has been raised for charities from sculpture auctions, the release states.
