'The Drowsy Chaperone' Opens at Westhill High

The Drowsy Chaperone is a hilariously clever show that pays homage to a much simpler era of musical theatre, when the Broadway experience was light and fun instead of dark and heavy and the focus was on the performers.

Our guide, The Man in the Chair, reacquaints us with the vaudeville of the 1920s and all its trademarks: the gags and comedic business, the Busby Berkley-esque dance numbers, the campy characters, the elementary plots and the infamous frivolity. The show begins with our guide playing the cast album, using his imagination to bring this vibrant show to life in the confines of his dreary New York City apartment. Enter colorful characters, wildly ridiculous musical numbers…and even an airplane…right into his living room!

The Westhill HS Northstar Playmakers are well known for their stage excellence. Enjoy this Tony Award winning night of music, dance and laughs!
