Starting in 1970, under the mentorship of Westport painter, Arlene Skutch, The Pink House Painters meet weekly for camaraderie, critiques and creativity. The name derives from the fact that Arlene’s studio, in which they gather, is next to her bright pink Cape Cod style antique house, built in 1876.  While most members of the group exhibit their work individually in exhibitions and commercial galleries, Different Strokes provides an opportunity for them to come together in celebration of their diversity and close bond.

The Pink House group is a society of painters diverse in perspective, style and media.  Infused with the creative energy of the group, each member expresses his or her individuality through art.  The UCONN show highlights the work of 36 members of this artists’ community.
