Joyce's intent is to capture what is memorable about whatever subject she chooses. How a scene alters during the seasons as a result of changing colors has always been fascinating to her; the magnificent oranges, yellows and reds of autumn; the grays of winter; the blossoms of spring finally yielding to the bright greens and blues of summer. She composes her still-lives from objects she loves; food that she finds at the supermarket, flowers from her garden, jars, toys, and vases from the antique shop. Does an artist create beauty or recreate it? After more than 16 years of study, Joyce believes it is the latter. She has a master's degree from Columbia University and studied at the Art Students League and Grand Central Academy in New York City. Her paintings are in private collections in New York City and Florida, and her work has been shown at IBM corporate headquarters, Armonk, New York, and galleries throughout Connecticut.
