The streets of downtown Stamford will be filled with the sweet sounds of swing dance and patriotic music Monday night when Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart leads an ensemble of his fabled musicians in an outdoor concert.

The 'Pop Up Pops' concert featuring a 10-musician ensemble, will be on Bedford Street, between Broad Street and Forest Street, at 5:45 p.m. June 30. The concert is a prelude to the Boston Pops live web stream of the July 4th concert on the Charles River in Boston.

The best part — admission is free.

Stamford Police will be closing part of Bedford Street between Broad and Spring Street for concert beginning at 5 p.m. The street will be closed until 8 p.m.

Motorists can use Washington Boulevard or Grove Street as an alternative to travel north. Greyrock Place to Forest Street and then back onto Bedford Street is an option, but motorists can expect significant delays on that route during these hours.
