What's Open / What's Closed in Stamford for Fourth of July?
CLOSED on July 4 for Independence Day:
- Banks have the option of remaining open in Connecticut, but hardly any do (see the major exception, below).
- Ferguson Library and other libraries
- Financial markets, such as the New York Stock Exchange
- Post offices
- Public schools that are otherwise still open this summer
- Town offices and agencies, including Town Hall and the town dump.
- State offices, including the state Department of Motor Vehicles (which will reopen at 9 a.m. Thursday). (PDF file for state holidays)
- U.S. government offices.
- Banks: all TDBanks.
- Restaurants, generally
- Grocery stores, generally
- Other businesses: open at the owner’s discretion.
What's DIFFERENT on July 4:
- CT Transit Buses (Stamford and Darien): "[A]ll buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. There will be no Express Bus service on the Fourth of July."
- Metro North service: On Thursday, July 4, subways and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule, and the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule."
