The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday afternoon that it was a tornado that ripped through parts of north Stamford and backcountry Greenwich on Monday.
Gov. Dannel Malloy signed an emergency declaration late Tuesday afternoon providing both municipalities aid for cleanup efforts.
