NBCUniversal's Trisha Goddard and Stamford Media Center employees collected toys for the 2012 Inspirica Holiday Gift Collection

The following is a release from NBCUniveral:

Trisha Goddard, host of the NBCUniversal (NBCU) talk show “Trisha Goddard,” joined the staff of NBCU’s Stamford Media Center (SMC) today in loading up a truck with gifts to be donated to local children in need, as part of Inspirica Inc.’s 2012 Holiday Gift Collection. 2012 marks the third year that SMC has participated in the annual collection.

Inspirica is one of the largest providers of services to the homeless in the state of Connecticut and the largest in lower Fairfield County. It provides emergency shelter, transitional housing and permanent supportive housing to 220-240 people each night. This year’s holiday collection will provide gifts to more than 2,600 children in Fairfield County.

“For many of the families we serve, these donated gifts will be the only ones their children receive this holiday season,” said Emily Hammond, Holiday Gift Collection Manager at Inspirica. “Each year, we rely on the generosity of local businesses and residents to make this gift collection successful, and we’re so grateful to Stamford Media Center employees for continuing their support of our organization.” More information on Inspirica’s Holiday Gift Collection can be found at www.inspiricact.org.

During the event, Goddard, along with SMC and Inspirica staff, loaded a truck provided by local sponsor “Two Men & A Truck” with toys and other gifts donated by SMC employees.

“Many families struggle to make ends meet this time of year and it’s so important for all of us to think about what we can do to help,” said Goddard, “I’m thrilled to be part of a team that recognizes the great work that organizations like Inspirica do in our community, especially during the holidays.”
