Stamford Week in Review

A look at the top news from the last week.

In case you missed a day, here's a quick roundup of all the lead stories from Stamford this week. There's always a lot going on, so take this opportunity to catch up if you missed something!

The biggest news of the week, by far, was the explosion at a house on Webbs Hill Road, which completely obliterated the residence there. There was nothing left of the home, and the explosion resulted in two other homes being damaged and two injuries, including the homeowner and a firefighter battling the blaze. A fire in the North Stamford property's propane tank burned in a controlled setting for several days. Pieces of the home were found hundreds of feet away and even up in trees.

In community news, Stamford's own Kaitlyn Tarpey was back in town following her Top 10 Finalist win at the Miss America pageant. The downtown Stamford Post Office closed for good Friday, and PO Box customers were directed to go pick their mail up at a new location until a more permanent solution could be found. And the Urban Scavenger Hunt is set to return for its second annual outing

In political news, David Martin, Democratic mayoral candidate, was out on the campaign trail this week for the first time following his primary win against Democratic opponent Rep. William Tong.
