In case you missed a day, here's a quick roundup of all the lead stories from Stamford this week. There's always a lot going on, so take this opportunity to catch up if you missed something!

In local political news, Board of Finance member David Martin and state Rep. William Tong hit the campaign trail hard leading into their final weekend before their face-off in the Sept. 10 primary this coming Tuesday. The week included shots at each other over incorrect information released by the Tong campaign regarding polling locations. 

In police news, leading the top stories this week, Stamford Officer Todd Lobraico's son, 22-year-old Todd James Lobraico, passed away in Afghanistan while serving in the U.S. Airforce. Patch's sympathies go out to the family. 

Additionally, Stamford police made a sizable cocaine bust Thursday, recovering $20,000 worth of product from the streets, and a man reported having his gold tooth pulled out by a group that attacked him during a robbery. 

In community news, Patch sat down with the inspiring Sidney Elmore to talk about his life story and his constant work in helping others travel that same path and Westhill High's Claire Howlett was named Stamford's Sports Person of the Year. Stamford city health officials also announced this week a city resident testing positive for West Nile Virus, making them the second such case in the state this year.
