Stamford Urban Transitway Construction Begins Monday

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the week.

The Stamford Urban Transitway will be undergoing construction starting Monday. According to the Operations Department, the following alert was released regarding the upcoming construction and anticipated disruption of traffic at the intersection of Elm Street and Myrtle Avenue beginning Monday and ending that Friday.

"The Engineering Department will begin demolition on 402 Elm Street (Subway building) on Monday, January 20 as part of the Urban Transitway project," a release from the department read. "The demolition is expected to disrupt traffic throughout the week and end on January 24. Throughout the demolition, traffic flow may be reduced to one lane in each direction. Stamford Police will be on site to direct traffic. Residents traveling in the area should expect delays."
