Stamford in the Dark No Longer: CL&P Showing All Power Restored

A power outage has knocked out power to a large portion of the city.

As of 6:50 p.m., the CL&P outage map is showing power restored to all parts of the city.

As of approximately 6:30 p.m., 10,696 CL&P customers were still without power, or about 19-percent of the city.

According to Connecticut Light & Power's outage map, 37-percent of the city has been thrust into darkness.

20,645 of the 55,753 CL&P customersare currently still without power.

"They were doing maintenance at the [Glenbrook] substation, and there was a short," A CL&P on-call representative said. "I know they're working on it."

Social media alerts from the Belltown Fire Department are saying the areas of Shippan and Glenbrook are suffering outages.

According to Mayor Michael Pavia's office, the outage is reportedly due to a malfunction of a feeder line at the Glenbrook substation.

Pavia said his office has been advised by CL&P officials that crews have begun working on repairing the problem and expect to have power restored by approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening.
