Stamford Church: Two Photos, a Century Apart

Time stands still for the Universalist Church and Parsonage, as a picture from a postcard mailed in 1905 shows, when compared to a picture taken this weekend from the same spot, 108 years later.

The Unitarian Universalist Society's church at 20 Forest St., overlooking Latham Park in downtown Stamford, looks almost exactly the same as it did 108 years ago.

Comparing two photos—one from a postcard mailed in 1905 (as shown on Wikipedia), the other taken this weekend—it's hard to spot differences in the building itself, although the trees have certainly changed and an apartment building now looms up behind the church.

The metal and concrete fence around the church appears to be the same one in use today.
