Heading into Greenwich? Expects Delays in the Byram Area

Byram Road is being milled in preparation for repaving, so it's closed to through traffic.

Drivers heading into the Byram area of Greenwich and neighboring Port Chester should plan on having extra patience and time on Wednesday.

The Greenwich Department of Public Works crews are milling Byram Road from Route 1 (West Putnam Avenue) at the state line to Frontage Road at the southbound off-ramp of I-95 — so the road is closed today. Motorists should expect traffic delays throughout that area.

The road will be closed to through traffic until 4 p.m., said Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. The milling is in preparation for the repaving of the road.

"They are constantly shifting from one lane to another" with the milling operation, Gray said. "It's pretty busy out there."
