KEEP YOUR SUMMER GROOVE AT “SPA FOR THE SPIRIT” SEPT 8TH

Monthly Morning Retreat at Church of Christ the Healer, Stamford

Spa for the Spirit, the monthly retreat morning at Church of Christ the Healer, resumes after a summer hiatus with the appropriately themed “How To Keep the Peace of Summer Amid the Pace of Fall.” Starting with breakfast at 8:30, this time of retreat will help participants to reflect on the gifts of summertime, and make some intentional plans for maintaining that peace amidst the busyness of “back to school/back to work/back to life.”

As the church’s pastor, Kate Heichler, puts it, “We will figure out how to keep ‘smelling the basil’ long after the leaves fall and snow covers the ground.” Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, so that walking is an option. The retreat will be facilitated by Kate Heichler, a pastor, spiritual director and retreat leader, who also leads the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut.

The October 6th “Spa for the Spirit,” focusing on St. Francis, will be led by Bishop Laura Ahrens, one of three bishops of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut.

“Spa for the Spirit” is held the first Saturday of each month on the church’s peaceful grounds in North Stamford, offering participants a chance to get away for a few hours, to rest, recharge and be renewed. “Our setting is quiet and restorative, just 1.5 miles north of the Merritt,” says Kate Heichler. Each retreat morning begins with breakfast at 8:30 and ends by 12:30, with time for silence, walking, writing, resting and reflection built in. All are welcome, from any or no religious tradition. A suggested donation of $15-20 is asked, according to ability. Reservations are requested - please call 203-322-6991 or email office@christthehealerstamford.org to reserve.
