Lenten Retreat - Spa for the Spirit

On Saturday, March 3rd,the monthly retreat morning at Church of Christ the Healer will focus on the “Celtic Way of the Spirit,” exploring  the richness of Celtic spirituality, which flowered in Ireland, Wales and Scotland in the 5th and 6th centuries. Celtic Christianity was earthy, grounded in nature, in the ordinary rhythms of life, in community.

The Lenten retreat morning will be led by Kate Heichler, Pastor at Christ the Healer. Kate brings her experience as a spiritual director and retreat leader, as well as musical gifts and a love for the Celtic way of knowing God – and being known. Tricia Leonard Pasley, a spiritual teacher and director, and student at Yale Divinity School, will co-lead. Participants will examine and rest into:

¨   Earth: the Way of  Constant Pilgrimage

¨   Wind: The Way of Constant Presence

¨   Fire: The Way of Constant Prayer

“Spa for the Spirit” is held the first Saturday of each month on the church’s peaceful grounds in North Stamford, offering participants a chance to get away for a few hours, to rest, recharge and be renewed. “Our setting is quiet and restorative, just 1.5 miles north of the Merritt,” says the church’s pastor, Kate Heichler. “We want people to be refreshed, and get in touch with their creative instincts, with creation – and with the creator.” Each retreat morning begins with breakfast at 8:30 and ends by 12:30, with time for silence, walking, writing, resting and reflection built in.
