Holy Saturday Spa for the Spirit

HOLY SATURDAY SPA FOR THE SPIRIT

“Letting Go of the Old, Receiving What is New.”

On Saturday, April 7th, Church of Christ the Healer offers a special “Holy Saturday” version of its monthly retreat morning, “Spa for the Spirit.” Led by the Rev. Kate Heichler with Catherine Amon, the morning will begin with breakfast and focus on “Letting Go of the Old, Receiving What is New.” The leaders note that, “The time between Good Friday and Easter is like those times in our lives where we feel empty, wondering where God has gone. We sit waiting, grieving, wondering, hoping. The mystery of Easter is the mystery of how we, after undergoing some kind of death, receive new life and new spirit.”

“Spa for the Spirit” is held the first Saturday of each month on the church’s peaceful grounds in North Stamford, offering participants a chance to get away for a few hours, to rest, recharge and be renewed. “Our setting is quiet and restorative, just 1.5 miles north of the Merritt,” says the church’s pastor, Kate Heichler. Each retreat morning begins with breakfast at 8:30 and ends by 12:30, with time for silence, walking, writing, resting and reflection built in.

The Lenten retreat morning will be co-led by Catherine Amon, who is a retreat leader and psychotherapist at the Cognitive Therapy Center in New York City and Guilford CT.  She trained as a Spiritual Director at Mercy Center and is a seminarian at Yale Divinity School. Her work focuses on spirituality, theological anthropology and psychological change. Kate Heichler, Pastor at Christ the Healer, brings her experience as a spiritual director and retreat leader and musician.
