[UPDATED]: Garbage Pickup, Meetings Rescheduled in Stamford Due to Snow

Some closures and cancellations have been announced around Stamford as the current snow storm rolls through town. In addition to the snow emergency set to kick in at 6 p.m. and Stamford Public Schools releasing early Tuesday, here are some other events impacted by the storm

Stamford Public Schools canceled classes for Wednesday, January 22. UConn, however, has not canceled classes.

"The schedule collection of garbage and recycling for Wednesday 1/22/14 is cancelled due to the snowstorm. Garbage/recycling pickup schedule is: 

  •     Wednesday regular schedule will be picked up Thursday 1/23    
  •     Thursday regular scheduled collection will be picked up Friday 1/24
  •     Friday scheduled collection will be Saturday 1/25."
The city announced the cancellation of the Office Support Specialist Exam scheduled for Wednesday, January 22. It will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Parking Ticket Appeals Hearing scheduled for Wednesday is canceled. Those scheduled for a hearing will be notified by mail of a new date.

The Stamford Family YMCA will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday. All programs are canceled, including LEAP, LEAD, swim lessons, swim team, youth sports and adult fitness

The Fiscal Committee and Parks & Recreation Committee meetings scheduled for Tuesday night have been canceled. The Fiscal Committee meeting has been rescheduled for January 23. There's been no update yet to the Parks & Rec Committee, and no word on what might happen with the Housing/Community Development/Social Services Committee or Operations Committee meetings scheduled for Wednesday.

So far, the Ferguson Library has announced the following cancellations and closures: "'Let's Talk' English Conversation Groups and the teen book discussion scheduled for tonight are cancelled due to the weather. The South End Branch will close at 3 p.m."

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center will closed at 2 p.m. Tuesday: "Due to the weather, the SM&NC will close at 2 pm on January 21. Please check back for updates in regards to opening on January 22."
