Bridge Repairs on I-95 in Stamford Scheduled to Begin Tonight


Planning night travel on the Connecticut Turnpike in Stamford? You better plan on your trip taking a bit longer than usual.

Here's an alert issued by the Connecticut Department of Transportation regarding its bridge joint replacement project on the I-95 northbound bridge over Metro-North Railroad and local roads in Stamford. 

Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to begin this evening (Tuesday, May 28) and continue until Friday, June 21, according to an announcement from the DOT. Motorists can expect lane closures on I-95 Northbound between Exit 7 and Exit 9 for the duration of the project which will be done during overnight hours.

According to the DOT, there will be traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Sunday through Thursday evenings).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
