With May just days away, many Stamfordites will be making plans to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some good food, good friends, and maybe that customary margarita. Patch Picks is here with a few of Stamford's best spots for celebrating next week.

Meeting friends to celebrate Cinco de Mayo after work? Riviera Maya features a lengthy happy hour from 3:30—8 pm. In the bar area only, enjoy a great selection of half-price top drinks and plenty of free bar snacks. For dinner, there's a spacious dining area and extensive menu. The  many vegetarian options and the guacamole, made table-side to your specifications, get rave reviews.

If you're a stickler for the real deal, you can't get any closer to authentic Mexican food in Stamford than at El Charrito. Pick up lunch or dinner at the yellow food truck on Richmond Hill Avenue between 11 am—8 pm. For an even more extensive menu, head to their to pick up some delicious and inexpensive take-out, perfect for a fun dinner at home on Cinco de Mayo.

Another authentic option and a Stamford favorite, Casa Villa recently (in the former location of Myrna's Bistro) for people looking to dine-in. The old location is still operating as a spot for take-out orders. With tons of tempting dishes and super low prices, you may just have to order extra. Tacos al Pastor, pineapple and pork, are just one of their tasty and unique choices.

Celebrate on Cinco de Mayo or save the festivities for Friday night — Black Bear will have $4 Coronas and $4 tequila shots on both nights. Enjoy some inexpensive drinks, pub fare, and what's sure to be a lively crowd. Patio fans rejoice, the outdoor area is now open again for the season.

Lola's Mexican Kitchen

The newest option for Mexican food in Stamford has the same owners as BUtterfield 8, and is located just across Bedford Street. While a bit pricier than other local options, Lola's does boast a beautiful dining space that sets the tone for a fun night out. The margarita menu is also worth a gander.
