YW's Job Search Support Teams Up with NCC for PLUS 50 Initiative

The YW’s Job Search Support Program and Norwalk Community College are joining forces to assist adults over 50 who are returning to the workforce.  The goal of the PLUS 50 Initiative is to help adults over 50 retrain and re-enter the workforce.  As many NCC students are career-focused, the objectives are to guide participants through career change decisions, and provide advice and support.

“The YWCA Darien/Norwalk wholeheartedly supports the NCC PLUS 50 initiative to establish a re-training and workforce re-entry program for mature workers,” explains Kate Foster, the YW’s Job Search Support Coordinator. “We currently serve those who are unemployed or underemployed, the majority of who are 50 or older. These resilient and reliable individuals face a range of challenges. NCC’s plan to provide access to financial aid and guidance into training programs in high-demand areas such as healthcare, human services and early childhood education, provides a welcome complement to the YW’s Job Search Support Program’s computer training and career counseling services.”
