Sony Provides Local Grant to Boys & Girls Club of Stamford
Youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford benefitted from digital cameras, memory cards, Bloggie camcorders, editing software and VAIO laptops and completed a year of digital arts programming. Overall, 50 youth participated in a still photography, film making/ claymation video program. Beginning last May, boys and girls, ages 6 - 16, embarked on a digital arts journey that included three public art exhibitions, a photo scavenger hunt contest at Mystic Aquarium, participation in the Digital Arts Photo Illustration Festival and the 2014 Imagemakers National Photography Contest. Lead by Technology Director, Nate Rivera and Fine Arts Director, Tania Palmero, the digital arts initiative gave the low income youth from the Boys & Girls Club a valuable opportunity to expand their horizons and explore new skills in the digital arts. “This was a tremendous opportunity for our children and a very generous contribution by SONY. It truly demonstrates their investment in our children’s future”. Cotela continued, “This program played a key role in our STEM programming this year and will certainly continue as we go forward into our summer programming”. A sample video can be seen at
