Shippan Racquet Club Hosts Level 7 Futures Tournament

Stamford, CT – Shippan Racquet Club hosted a 10 and Under Level 7 Futures Circuit tournament on February 9th.  Twenty- two aspiring junior players competed for USTA Connecticut ranking points. 

 

The twenty- two participants were divided into A & B flights by gender and competed in a round robin format.  The twelve boys were divided into flights of six.  The winner of the Boys’ A flight was Rufus McCleery. The winner of the Boys’ B flight was Josh Sherman.  The ten girls were divided into a flight of six and a flight of four.  The Girls’ A flight winner was Zara Williamson and the B flight winner was Jordana Latzman.

“This was a very rewarding tournament and all of the players showed great sportsmanship throughout the entire event,” commented Eusebie Oprea, Tennis Professional at Shippan Racquet Club and Tournament Director.

Representing Shippan Racquet Club in the boy’s draw was Vishal Nayak and in the girl’s draw was Sohni Vermani.  “Vishal and Sohni were terrific competitors, trying their best and fighting hard until the very last point,” noted Oprea.

 

“We are so proud of both Vishal and Sohni,” stated Barb Cavaliere, manager of Shippan Racquet Club.  “They showed great effort throughout the tournament. 10 and Under Tennis is a great experience for our future tennis players.”
