Paint the Town Pink Organizers Announce Calendar of Events

This October marks the ninth annual “Paint the Town Pink” campaign, and Stamford Hospital is celebrating National Breast Cancer Awareness month with a line-up of educational and social events in Stamford, Darien and Norwalk. This year, the campaign also gets a boost of celebrity with TODAY’s fourth hour co-hosts, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, serving as the honorary co-chairs.

Kotb herself is a breast cancer survivor and has become an advocate for breast cancer awareness. In March 2007 she was diagnosed with the disease after her gynecologist found a lump in her breast during a routine check-up. That same year she chose to undergo a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. A Greenwich resident, Gifford is a television host, singer, songwriter and actress, best known for her 15-year run on the talk show Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee, which she co-hosted with Regis Philbin. In April 2008, Gifford began co-hosting the fourth hour of NBC’s Today, alongside Kotb.

Sponsored by Stamford Hospital and a number of other community partners, Paint the Town Pink stresses the importance of screening and early detection and spreads the word about the comprehensive breast care services available right here in our community.  A calendar of events for this year’s “Paint the Town Pink” campaign are included below.
