J.K. Cafe at Cobb's Mill Inn Hosts "Writing Your Stories" November 6

October 9, 2013 (Weston, Conn.) -- Seeking to hone your writing skills or perhaps pen a memoir?  Find out how at the free workshop, “Writing Your Stories,” taught by award-winning author, Marcelle Soviero, at J.K. Cafe, Cobb’s Mill Inn’s new coffee house.  Ms. Soviero, Wilton author and Editor-In-Chief of Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers, will teach the workshop on Wednesday, November 6 from 10:00 - 11:30 am.  Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

“Writing Your Stories” will cover varied aspects of the writing process -- Journal Writing/Getting Starting, Crafting Personal Essays/Memoir Writing or Blogs, and publishing your short or full-length work.  

Ms. Soviero is an essayist whose forte is teaching memoir and personal essay writing.  “Everyone has a story to tell. This workshop will take participants through a step-by-step writing process,” said Soviero.  Students should be equipped to take notes and will come away with key writing essentials.  Both novices and seasoned writers are invited to attend.”

Ms. Soviero is the owner of Erielle Media and spearheads all Brain, Child Magazine operations and editorial duties.  Brain, Child is the largest literary magazine devoted to motherhood with an international distribution.  Founded in 2000 (www.brainchildmag.com), the magazine’s contributors have included the works of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelists and acclaimed writers.  

In addition to her editorial work, Soviero is an accomplished poet and essayist, teacher and artist, mother and stepmother and award-winning author of An Iridescent Life: Essays on Motherhood and Stepmotherhood (June, 2012).  A poignant collection, the book celebrates the often untold positive aspects of step-parenting and parenting.  Soviero has been published in The New York Times, National Public Radio, Salon.com, Eating Well, New York Metro Parent, Babble, Literary Mama, and Upper East Side Magazine, among others.

Ms. Soviero is also the host of Carousel, a television and Web interview show from Cablevision of Connecticut Channel 88. 

Now residing in Wilton, Connecticut with her second husband and their blended family -- comprised of five children ages eleven to seventeen -- Ms. Soviero teaches memoir writing and related topics at The Westport Writers’ Workshop, New Haven Library and through Wilton Continuing Education.  She balances Brain, Child and community workshops with her private writing/coaching practice.  She is also available to teach essay classes at local venues, including libraries and assisted living facilities, and can be contacted through her website at marcelle@marcellesoviero.com or at (203) 563-9149.

J.K.
