HOME FOR THE HOLIDAY? STAMFORD DOWNTOWN FRENCH MARKET OPEN ON SATURDAY, JULY 5, 2014

For those of us who choose not to fight holiday traffic, staying home during three-day summer weekends provides a welcome respite from crowded area beaches and parks.   It’s the perfect time to head downtown for a leisurely stroll through the Stamford French Market. .  Whether you’re spending a quiet weekend at home or hosting a backyard barbeque, you’ll find everything you need at this downtown open-air market.

Sarah and Nancy’s Farm and Amelia’s Florist and Farm Market will be there with summer’s bounty of fresh berries, melons, peaches and nectarines, tomatoes and seasonal greens for healthful salads.  Connecticut Gourmet offers more than 10 varieties of artisanal breads.  Kardamas Extra Virgin Olive Oil will be back with their cold-pressed olive oil from a family farm in Greece.  Forgot the pickles for your burgers and dogs?  Vesco’s Olives and Pickles, Inc. to the rescue!

Hurricane Arthur has blown out to sea and the weekend promises to be glorious.   Head to downtown Stamford, at the corner of Bedford and Forest.  Celebrate Independence Day by supporting your local farmers and small businesspeople.
