Girl Scouts Job Shadow at GE

More than 40 Girl Scouts visited three GE Corporate locations in Danbury, Norwalk, and Stamford, to learn about the types of careers available at the company and key career-building skills.

On Monday, April 14, girls heard from and spoke with more than 25 GE employees at all three sites about the areas of finance, HR, IT, and marketing. Girls interviewed the employees about their job responsibilities and what the employees enjoyed most about their jobs. In addition, girls participated in a variety of interactive activities including creating a company.

The day’s events were a part of Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s Career Week, where girls across the state participated in various career-building and mentorship activities with local business partners. These activities are all a small part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, the organization’s national program portfolio that prepares girls to become active leaders in their workplace and communities. Specifically, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience helps a girl discover herself and her values, connect with others to build healthy relationships, and take action to make the world a better place.
