CALLING ALL KIDS INTERESTED IN PLAYING ICE HOCKEY!!!

Darien Youth Hockey Association (DYHA) is excited to announce that there is still room for the 2013-2014 hockey season for beginner hockey players in our Mini Mite program. (2008 birth years). DYHA is a non-profit community based youth ice hockey program, based in Darien but with players from around Fairfield County.

The Mini Mite Program at DYHA is an exciting first step into the wonderful world of DYHA and Youth Hockey. Our highly regarded Mini Mite program is typically designed for 5 year-olds who have either had some instruction or are true beginners. The emphasis is on skating and fun! The weekday Mini Mite sessions are coached by Blueline Sports Academy. Blueline Sports Academy will teach the basics of skating and ice hockey skills by utilizing drills and fun/educational games. All the lessons learned during the week will be reemphasized during the weekend sessions run by our volunteer parent/coaches who will also use drills and small area games to develop the kids love for the game. Parent volunteers are encouraged to help as much as possible. The Mini Mites are broken up into two groups, based solely on alphabetical order. The weekday/weekend practices will alternate between Thursday/Saturday and Friday/Sunday. Once a child has been accepted into the mini mite program, they are eligible to play in Mighty Mite and Mite house league the following years. Again, the most important part of DHYA’s Mini Mite program and what sets us apart from all other beginner programs is our emphasis on the combination of LEARNING and FUN!!!
