Aquarion Partners With Friends of Mianus River Park

A team of volunteers from Aquarion Water Company recently partnered with the Friends of Mianus River Park to help restore and protect the Greenwich riverbank from erosion in honor of Earth Day.

Aquarion provided funds for materials, which included plants, fencing, and mulch. Volunteers from Aquarion helped install fencing and plant along the riverbank in order to help minimize erosion and strengthen the habitat for the Park’s native species. The project helped protect nearly 250 feet of the popular park’s streambank and will have a lasting impact on the native habitat.

“Aquarion is happy to take part in Earth Day projects that help protect our local habitat and maintain their natural beauty,” said Charles V. Firlotte, Aquarion President and CEO. “We are proud to have volunteers who are devoted to environmental sustainability and we thank them for their efforts at the Mianus River.”

Aquarion has participated in restoration efforts to renovate and rebuild the streambank since 2007. The efforts of countless volunteers from the community have helped restore natural vegetation to the area and provided for the continued growth and development of the riverbank.
