The Taste of the Town Stroll, a fundraiser for the New Canaan Food Pantry, takes place tomorrow in downtown New Canaan. Make sure to join us for a fun night of celebration to kick off New Canaan's second annual Restaurant Week. Thirty-two New Canaan merchants, restaurants and eateries are opening their doors to the strolling public and offering free hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Here's the detailed schedule.
4pm-6pm: Before the Stroll starts, last chance to buy a donation package at Walter Stewart’s Market (significantly discounted and priced at $15 and $25) and enjoy free wine, craft brew and artisanal cheese in front of Walter Stewart’s.
6pm: Drop off non-perishable donations for the New Canaan Food Pantry and pick up Stroll Map in one of four drop-off sites: 91 Elm Street (in front of New Canaan Playhouse); 103 Main Street (in front of Baskin Robbins); 126 Main Street (in front of New Balance); and 32 Forest Street (in front of M Milestones and The Summer House).
6pm-9pm: The strolling public follows the Stroll map and visits participating retailers, restaurants and eateries -- partaking in the free offerings and enjoying the music throughout the downtown. In order to qualify for the Stroll prize drawing, a minimum of twelve sites needs to be visited.
9pm: In front of the New Canaan Playhouse, New Canaan Chamber of Commerce conducts prize drawing of over twenty-five prizes, totaling a value of $2,800. The Grand Prize is a customized spa party for six at New Canaan’s Aetheria Spa which includes exclusive access to the spa, lunch and champagne, all together valued at $1,000. In addition, gift certificates from all the participating restaurants, eateries and Walter Stewart’s and prizes donated by Caren Forbes, Design Solutions, J. Crew, Ralph Lauren and Sara Campbell will be given away.
Friday, August 24th to Thursday, August 30th: Restaurant Week takes place with specially priced prix fixe lunch and dinner menus at the thirteen participating New Canaan restaurants.
