St. Luke's Center for Leadership (CFL) recently had a treat for the student body: serial entrepreneur Kurt Collins flew in from California and brought with him a bundle of learning experiences. Collins spoke as part of the "Lunch & Lead" speaker series where students connect informally with successful leaders from diverse fields. CFL Director Jim Foley arranged the visit: “Mr. Collins helped teach St. Luke’s kids the difference between entrepreneurship and leadership, two concepts often inaccurately conflated.”
Collins is the founder of Enole, a technological identification platform. He is also one of the founders of the Hidden Genius Project, an initiative that provides technology mentorship for young black men. During his visit, Collins spoke to St. Luke's Multicultural Student Union and the Black Student Alliance. He also managed to fit in a "culture of science" discussion with 7th and 8th graders and taught a couple of Introduction to Programming and Java classes.
St. Luke's was honored to have such a multi-talented entrepreneur provide expertise in such a wide range of areas. After all, Mr. Collins is the exact kind of person the Center for Leadership wants to see in our student body: a true leader.
