Hundreds to Walk in Stamford to Give All Babies a Healthy Start

On Sunday, May 6 at Commons Park at Harbor Point in Stamford (100 Washington Street), hundreds of families and business leaders will join together to March for Babies—the March of Dimes walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive. Funds raised help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unit family support programs and advocacy efforts for stronger, healthier babies.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk kicking off at 10 a.m. Participants will enjoy a DJ, snacks, a bounce house, face painting, and more.  To register visit marchforbabies.org or marchofdimes.com/ct.  All walkers who raise $200 or more will receive an event t-shirt and those raising $350 or more will have the choice of a Macy’s or Kmart gift card.

Helping to lead the festivities will be the Breitenbach family of Wilton. The family knows the importance of its mission to prevent prematurity firsthand, having delivered their son Alex 13 weeks early 11 years ago. He spent 64 days in neonatal intensive care at Stamford Hospital.  Their
daughter Ella was also born prematurely.

“We have a debt of gratitude to the March of Dimes, and the entire staff of the Stamford Hospital NICU for helping
to save Alex’s life,” said Paul Breitenbach.
