The American Heart Association has named the executive leadership team for the 2011-2012 Go Red For Women movement. Mia Schipani, VP of Business Development for RMS Construction will serve on the Fairfield/Westchester Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team.
Executive Leadership Team members serve in a high-profile position that supports both their philanthropic and business/professional priorities. Members, an exclusive network of up to 15 women executives, are at the forefront of this most powerful movement for women helping to shape and drive the Go Red agenda for educating and empowering women to fight heart disease, their number one killer.
“I am excited to be named to the Go Red for Women executive leadership team,” said Schipani, “Go Red for Women is an important initiative and it is critical that we as women leaders speak out and join forces to fight this silent killer.”
Schipani also founded and serves as the chair for the Fairfield Go Red Corporate Leadership Council (CLC). The CLC was formed to bring influential women of power together to share knowledge, business ideas and to help create a higher level of awareness around heart disease.
Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. Ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. Eighty percent of cardiac events in women may be prevented if women make the right choices for their hearts.
Schipani adds, “As a woman who balances multiple responsibilities, I realize I need to put myself first and make my cardiovascular health my top priority. There is a strong need for women to take pause and understand their risks. There is also something powerful about our strength in numbers and how together, thorough the Go Red For Women movement, we can create unique avenues and ways to educate other women about their number one health threat.”
As an Executive Leadership Team member, Schipani joins eight others who will support efforts to build partnerships with other organization to broaden our reach to more women and raise funds to drive the year-round Go Red For Women movement which culminates with the annual Go Red For Women Luncheon on March 8, 2012.
