Steve & Catherine Simms had to meet twice to finally hit it off. After a long journey full of interesting characters and renovations, they've found their niche online, selling pet products as a result of her web savvy and his carpentry skills.
There's a lot of opinions out there about fate. Some think it exists, others don't. Every now and then, though, a story surfaces that makes it difficult to make any sort of definitive statement against the idea. Steve Simms met Catherine Jaouen (zj-OW-en) at CD's Cafe in Norwalk when she was visiting from France on vacation and he was about to leave for France to sing on tour with Serge Gainsbourg. He tried telling her this. "She thought it was the biggest crock of [expletive deleted] in the world, because that guy was so famous," Steve laughs. Simms would leave the states, Jaouen would stay, and they wouldn't hit it off. They wouldn't even cross paths again until four years later at another bar—him with friends after a job near the …

Morelli's Double Burger—and the same owners—kick off a new chapter in the old location of Morelli's Pizza.
Those visiting the downtown area this weekend may have noticed Stamford's newest addition is a twist on an old staple. They may have even noticed the staple's staple, Luigi Morelli and Mario Degani catering to each customer's every whim with care and sincerity, between them more than half-a-century in the business. Formerly called Morelli's Pizza, the Broad Street location kept the Morelli name in it's new moniker, Morelli's Double Burger & Catering, but streamlined their menu to one that moved away from entrées and the exclusivity of pizza they offered. Instead, partner and partial-owner Degani said Monday afternoon they've been highlighting some new fare and old favorites that he felt deserved more love and, so far, the change has been …

Take advantage of 1970s prices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Post Corner Pizza, and maybe you'll be one of the 40 winners who will get to buy a large pizza every week for 40 weeks—all in celebration of the business's 40th anniversary.
A fluffy, thicker crust than most pizzas in this area. And yet that crust has a harder surface. Then there's the checkerboard way of cutting up the slices. For 40 years (actually closer to 41) Post Corner Pizza has always had its own distinctive way of cooking up and serving pizza pies. That's one of the reasons loyal fans have mobbed the 130-seat restaurant at the corner of the Post Road and Mansfield Avenue on weekend nights for generations. Greek salads and other dishes have also been stable staples of the establishment, founded in 1971 by John Sofronas, who operated it with his wife, Kathy, until they sold the business five years ago to its current owner, Peter Kousidis. "He [Sofronas] was pretty particular as to who he was going to …
