Teen Arrested in Stamford Liquor Store Shooting

A juvenile has been charged with the Hope Bottle Shop attempted robbery in Springdale.

Stamford police arrested a teenager in connection to a Springdale liquor store shooting that occurred on New Years Eve, police announced Tuesday.

According to Capt. Richard Conklin, "good old fashioned police work" led to the arrest following the incident as there was little to go on in the area of physical evidence.

Just before the Hope Bottle Shop was set to close New Years Eve, the suspect entered the store brandishing a silver revolver. The suspect fired several rounds during the course of the incident. No one was injured, and the suspect additionally failed to steal any money from the register.

The suspect eventually fled when a store employee tossed a case of beer in the direction of the suspect.

The proprietor of the store, for some reason, initially believed the incident was a joke and didn't report the occurrence until a couple days later. Following an extensive investigation, police places a 17-year-old Stamford teen under arrest.

He has been charged with first-degree criminal attempted robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits and possession of a deadly weapon.

The suspect was set to appear in juvenile court Tuesday, but Conklin expected the case would soon be transferred over to adult proceedings based on the severity of the charges.
