Stamford Men Charged with Mailbox Package Thefts

Two men and a juvenile were stopped and arrested when they were found to be in possession of items missing from mailboxes in the vicinity of where they were walking, police said.

Police announced Thursday morning that 5 to 7 cars had been broken into, damaged or otherwise vandalised during the overnight hours into the early morning.

The incidents mostly occurred on Horton St. and Willowbrook Ave. Some of the vehicles had miscellaneous items taken from them. A few of the cars had their mirrors smashed.

The incidents remain under investigation.

Two men and one juvenile were arrested in connection to mail allegedly being stolen from seven different people at three different locations.

Christian Alarcon, 18, of Seaside Ave., and Deydri Orlando Montalvo, 19, of Webb Ave., were arrested by authorities after allegedly being discovered in the area with several of the stolen items on their persons, police said Thursday.

The men, along with an unnamed juvenile suspect, were allegedly stealing items like checks and electronic gear out of mailboxes in the area of Dogwood Ln., Gary Rd. and Webbs Hill Rd., according to authorities.

After officers responded to the area for a caller who police said saw the three men, the group was stopped and through the course of their conversation, discovered to allegedly be in possession of the stolen goods, according to police.

The men were then ID'd by the caller.

All three face the same charges. Six counts of larceny in the sixth degree, six counts conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree, one count of larceny in the fifth degree and on count conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree.

Other Arrests

Tynita E. Chapman, 20, of Fairfield Ave., was charged Wednesday evening with failure to appear.

David Lawrence, 23, of Ursula Pl., was charged Thursday morning with failure to observe traffic control signals, illegally operating a motor vehicle while suspended and illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Woodrow Wilson Walker, 33, of George St. in Bridgeport, was charged Thursday morning with illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and improperly turning without stopping or with no signal.
