Police: Stamford Car Stop Leads to PCP Discovery

A motor vehicle stop led to drug charges against a 30-year-old Stamford man early Monday, police said Tuesday.

According to police, officers running radar in the area of Lockwood Avenue observed a vehicle being operated by Guillermo Torres, of Elm Street, allegedly traveling at a "high rate of speed."

Authorities said officers conducted a stop and, when approaching the window, detected an odor commonly associated with the drug PCP. Officers asked the operator of the vehicle to exit, police said, and conducted a search of the operator for the safety of the officers.

Police alleged in the front shirt pocket of the vehicle operator, they discovered five packages of suspected PCP. The operator allegedly stated to police, "That's PCP and I smoke it."

A 31-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was searched and permitted to leave the scene when nothing illegal was found.

Torres was charged with possession of a hallucinogen, given a court date of April 8 and released on a Promise To Appear.

Stamford Arrests

Lori B. Demarsico, 49, of St. Charles Avenue, charged Tuesday morning with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Alonzo R. Tribble, 25, of West Putnam Avenue, charged Monday night with failure to respond to an infraction, disorderly conduct and fourth-degree larceny.

Juan Carlos Villa, 27, of Alden Street, charged early Monday with second-degree failure to appear, illegal operation of a motor vehicle and failure to drive in proper lane.
