At Foxwoods' 20th anniversary celebration on Wednesday, the casino announced the upcoming construction of an 85-store luxury outlet mall andrebranding campaign, The Courant reported.
The mall is a step toward attracting different kinds of visitors to the resort, according to the article.
"It's going to be a true retail destination that we've never had before," said Scott Butera, president and chief executive of Foxwoods, in the article.
The casino hopes the mall and the rebranding campaign will help to pay off its "massive debt," The Courant reported.
As for which stores will inhabit the mall, The Courant reports that project developer Sheldon Gordon expects to make a May announcement.
